Continuing with discussion of Fur Trade Era (1811- 1840). Shortened periods today as we had a driving safety assembly sponsored by YHS FFA.  Fur Trade letter should go out tomorrow. If it does I will post it on the blog.

The questions from the Tribal Perspective, Chapter 4 were turned in today. If you were absent get the questions and the transcripts tomorrow. It will be homework over the weekend.  Today we also looked at some pictures of “Fort Astoria” and the Columbia River at Astoria… it is wide!

Tomorrow you will be taking notes from the overhead about the Fur Trade Era. Keep in mind that you are going to write a report on the Fur Trade but in the form of a letter to a “friend or relative back East”.  That assignment will be handed out on Monday.

Our review of the “First Contact” between Native Americans and Europeans went very well. Tomorrow you will turn in the 4 questions with your written answers. Remember, your answers are based on the Tribal Perspective.

Today we continued watching “Tribal Perspectives” and discussing how the information fit with what we are reading about the “Great Encounter” which includes the European and American explorers as well as the Fur Trade Era.

If you have not read all of chapter 4 you should check out a text-book and finish reading it.

Welcome back from the Thanksgiving break. We now have three solid weeks before the next break, stay well we have a lot to do. Today we began a review of the earliest days and earliest occupants of the Pacific Northwest with a look at “Tribal Perspectives”. We will continue with this and then look closely at the Fur Trade era from both the Native American point of view and the United States point of view.

Congratulations, you made it through your chapter 3 vocabulary quiz. If you have not turned in your poster you will need to use a late pass unless other arrangements have already been made.

Tomorrow you will set up for and start writing 2 column notes for Chapter 4. Remember, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be 1/2 days and you will be meeting in only 3 classes each of those days.

Posters were due today. If you did not turn yours in you may use a Late Work pass on Monday for full credit  or take a 10% cut in grade.

TEST: Remember the vocabulary test has been set for Monday.

Coastal/Plateau compare and contrast posters are due tomorrow.  The vocabulary test has been rescheduled for Monday, November 16.

You all did a great job starting on your posters today.  They are due at the end of the period on Friday.  Many of you took them home to work on them. Most of you will need to take them home for HOMEWORK on Thursday if you didn’t take them home tonight.

The vocabulary test has been postponed until Monday, Nov. 16. Study every day.

We had a very busy day. Students received their written instructions for the poster assignment. Posters will be due Friday, November 13. They will require some work to be done at home.
