Classroom Rules and Expectations
Mrs. Threlkeld – Pacific Northwest History and Geography
1) Be on time to class and with your work. Consequences for being tardy to class is outlined in student planner.
2) Be prepared for class. (have a notebook with paper, a pen or pencil, and books)
3) Be respectful
a) By actively listening when someone is talking
b) By taking proper care of school and personal property
c) By not invading other people’s space
d) By accepting that others may have different opinions from your own
(NO PUT DOWNS)
e) By using appropriate voice tones and language
f) By not interfering in the teachers discipline
g) By following reasonable teacher requests
4) NO FOOD OR DRINK IS ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM DURING CLASS. Except water!
5) All work must be turned in on time. LATE WORK is not acceptable.
a) Daily work that is assigned with the expectation that it will be completed in class is due at the end of the period.
b) Other assignments are expected to be turned in at the beginning of the class period on the assigned due date.
Because unexpected emergencies sometimes come up, you will be given two Late Work Passes. These must be used within 5 class days of the due date. No work will be accepted later than 5 class days with or without a Late Work Pass
So keep up with your work.
6) Class participation points: You will be awarded 3 points per day for participating in class activities and keeping up with your work. You will lose these points only if you are behaving inappropriately by disrupting learning for classmates or breaking classroom or school rules in class. Being asked to leave the room is a major disruption. You will lose 3 points plus any other consequences.
7) Work missed due to absence must be made up. You must take responsibility to find out what work you missed by checking the “Assignments” list and getting the work you missed. You will have one day to make up the work for every day you were absent. Be sure to talk to me if you have any questions.
You may use only #2 pencil or blue or black ink for your class work. I will not accept work done in any other color. All final copies of formal essays & reports must be in ink written on one side of the paper or typed.
GRADING: Your grade for the term will be determined by total points. The grading scale is the traditional: 90-92% = A- 93-100% = A 80-82% = B- 83-87%= B 88 – 89% = B+ 70–72% = C- 73-77%= C 77- 79% = C+ 60 – 69% = D 59% and below = F
I offer very little extra credit. It is expected that you keep up and complete your daily work to earn your good grade. If you have time to do extra credit you should have time to do a quality job on daily work.
